Prarambh was established by Haryana Government in 2013 and offers a 4-year integrated Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), along with a Bachelor in Arts or Science depending on the choice of the individual student-teacher. Since it’s inception HPPI has worked closely with the Department of Education, Haryana, to run Prarambh and provide quality inputs through added programme elements, designed to build a robust skillset in the student-teachers.

With a vision to train teachers that can step beyond the confines of knowledge, pedagogy and content delivery, Prarambh exposes the student-teachers to a number of hands-on experiences in, as well as outside, the classroom. Community investigations and actions, teaching practice and other hands-on experiences are key elements of this training, implemented through HPPI’s DMM methodology (Doctrine of Modern Method), that focus on giving the students the tools to plan, access and navigate their own education.

Currently 270 student teachers are studying at Prarambh, across 4 teams, while the first team of 45 student teachers graduated in July 2018 as Secondary Teachers.
